popularly known as &#8216;Ogogo&#8217;, a veteran Nollywood actor, filmmaker, and screenwriter, recalling the deceased made remarkable contributions that helped to shape the growth of Yoruba-language theatre, and Nigerian cinema in general<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect<\/p>\n<p>President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as &#8220;Ogogo&#8221;, a veteran Nollywood actor, filmmaker, and screenwriter, following his demise.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu described Hassan as a distinguished artiste whose career spanned several decades and made remarkable contributions that helped to shape the growth of Yoruba-language theatre and Nigerian cinema.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"3uW5UcJdKa\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=3490\">US warns Nigerians against fake, misleading documents in visa applications<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201cUS warns Nigerians against fake, misleading documents in visa applications\u201d \u2014 Consumer Experience Is A Top Priority\" src=\"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=3490&amp;embed=true#?secret=BNj7QrRZQm#?secret=3uW5UcJdKa\" data-secret=\"3uW5UcJdKa\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Nigerian leader also noted that through the deceased\u2019s distinctive acting style, powerful screen presence and dedication to his craft, Ogogo entertained generations of Nigerians while promoting the richness of Yoruba culture and Nigeria\u2019s diverse cultural heritage.<\/p>\n<p>The President said Ogogo\u2019s body of work would remain an important part of Nigeria\u2019s cultural history.<\/p>\n<p>According to Tinubu his mentorship and influence on younger artistes further underscored his enduring legacy in the creative industry.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, who stated this Monday, August 24, 2026, noted President Tinubu further said: &nbsp;\u201cAlhaji Taiwo Hassan was a gifted artiste who used his talent to tell Nigerian stories, preserve our cultural heritage, and entertain audiences at home and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis passing is a great loss to his family, the Yoruba film industry, Nollywood and the entire Nigerian creative community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The President stated: \u201cOn behalf of the Federal Government, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, friends and millions of admirers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI pray that Almighty Allah will grant him eternal rest and give his loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also urged members of the creative industry and Nigerians to honour &nbsp;Ogogo\u2019s memory by preserving and building on the cultural values and artistic traditions to which he devoted his life.<\/p>\n<p>The statement as well noted that prior to his finding fame, Ogogo had worked as a mechanic at the Lagos State Water Corporation (LSWC) for about 13 years.<\/p>\n<p>He began his acting 1981, combining the profession with his mechanic job before leaving it in 1994 to pursue acting full-time.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>*President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expresses condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of late Taiwo Hassan,&nbsp;
