{"id":2652,"date":"2026-08-01T20:13:59","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T20:13:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=2652"},"modified":"2026-08-01T20:26:36","modified_gmt":"2026-08-01T20:26:36","slug":"insecurity-tinubu-updates-nigerians-on-new-army-divisions-state-police-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=2652","title":{"rendered":"Insecurity: Tinubu updates Nigerians on new Army Divisions, state police system"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>*President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, explains the recent creation of four additional Divisions of the Nigerian Army is to complement the existing eight Divisions and ensure the Military respond swiftly to acts of insecurity wherever they happen in the country<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Isola Moses | ConsumerConnect<\/p>\n<p>President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has explained that the creation of four additional Divisions of the Nigerian Army is to complement the existing eight Divisions and ensure the Military respond swiftly to acts of insecurity wherever they happen in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu said the 12 Divisions are now better motivated to tackle the insecurity that has festered for long in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"D2db2oPWkZ\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=2639\">NCC applauds Nigerians, industry stakeholders for successful ATU-CPL &#8217;26<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201cNCC applauds Nigerians, industry stakeholders for successful ATU-CPL \u201926\u201d \u2014 Consumer Experience Is A Top Priority\" src=\"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=2639&amp;embed=true#?secret=rwaaAbsQQJ#?secret=D2db2oPWkZ\" data-secret=\"D2db2oPWkZ\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The President stated this Thursday, July 30 while receiving traditional rulers under the auspices of the Oyo State Council of Obas, led by the Olubadan of Ibadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1 in the State House, Abuja, FCT.<\/p>\n<p>According to the President, the gallantry of the security personnel, coupled with the support and prayers of the traditional rulers in Oyo State and Nigerians as a whole aided the resolution of the abduction saga.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication Thursday,<\/p>\n<p>July 30, stated President Tinubu also said: \u201cCongratulations on the Oriire rescue that succeeded.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think we succeeded with your support, prayers, and I agree with you that we should commend the men and women of the armed forces for their excellent performance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On behalf of them, I accept your message, and I will forward the same message on.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The President stated: \u201cWe refused to negotiate. These criminals wanted us to review the release from detention, members of their criminal gangs that were already arrested. &#8220;That was one of their conditions, aside from the money they&#8217;re looking for. &#8220;And I said, \u2018no deal,\u2019 we are not going to negotiate with criminals. They committed murder.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He equally noted: \u201cSome of them are non-Nigerians, you know, you see the problem of insecurity in Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic is adding more fuel to our challenges.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The President also took the opportunity to allay fears on the introduction of State Police, assuring that checks and balances would be emplaced to safeguard the system.<\/p>\n<p>The Nigerian leader said: \u201cThere will be state police. That state police will have guardrails from abuses. &#8220;We\u2019ll protect it from abuses, and you traditional rulers too will have roles to play.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He explained: \u201cWe are equally enhancing the capacity and capability of the forest guards; they are not just to chase antelopes and animals. &#8220;We are going to have them chase the criminals and deal with them in various forests.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Intelligence, vigilance in security <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stressing the importance of intelligence and vigilance in solving security challenges, President Tinubu called on Nigerians to be extra vigilant, and be well aware of their neighbours and communities so as to report strange people and occurrences.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the economy, President Tinubu said the situation had greatly improved as governors were collecting good money now unlike what obtained when \u201cwe were governors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>No governor borrows money to pay salaries anymore in Nigeria, Tinubu emphasised.<\/p>\n<p>He urged the traditional rulers to encourage their Governors to concentrate more on quality infrastructure like \u201cbuilding roads and arteries network to really enhance the quality of life and accessibility of the security agencies to penetrate those areas as opposed to building flyovers where there is no numeric traffic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, expressed gratitude to the President for the Oriire rescue and the successes recorded so far in his administration.<\/p>\n<p>Oba Ladoja also emphasised true federalism as the way to go so that development in each zone will be more rapid.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the creation of Regional Commissions will fast-track development in the various regions.<\/p>\n<p>The Royal Father declared support for the Renewed Hope Agenda.<\/p>\n<p>He stated: \u201cWe believe in your Renewed Hope Agenda.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is clear you are Renewing our Hope in infrastructure and fixing our abandoned roads.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Oba Ladoja noted: &#8220;We traditional rulers must ensure this administration completes its tenure.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We know it&#8217;s a difficult job, and we are ready at any point in time to give you our own opinion, our own advice, and also our own prayers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe continue to pray for you, Mr. President, so that by the time you do your bit , and I look at it that you are, now, and that has been shown in the Oriire issue.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Olubadan equally used the occasion to request recognition for traditional rulers across the country by allotting them roles in the constitution.<\/p>\n<p>On the delegation of the traditional rulers were His Royal Majesties: the Aare Ago of Ogbomoso, High Chief S.
