to seize alcoholic beverages packaged in sachets and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles below 200 millilitres across Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p><em>ConsumerConnect<\/em> reports NAFDAC said consumers&#8217; intakes of sachet alcoholic beverages packaged in sachets and polyethylene terephthalate bottles below the specified&nbsp; millilitres had fuelled increased cases kidnapping and marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The health sector regulatory agency also noted that mopping up the sachet alcoholic drinks is aimed at preventing harmful alcohol consumption while tackling substance abuse, especially among the young consumers.<\/p>\n<p>NAFDAC stated the mop up exercise is in line with the Federal Government\u2019s announced ban on the production, importation, distribution, sale and use of alcoholic drinks packaged in sachets and PET bottles smaller than 200ml in the markets.<\/p>\n<p>The agency, in a statement shared on its official X handle on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, further explained the enforcement exercise on sachet and bottle alcohol is being undertaken simultaneously across the six geopolitical zones after the closure of non-compliant manufacturing facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The statement noted: \u201cNAFDAC enforcement teams are conducting coordinated operations in markets, motor parks, retail outlets, bars, and other distribution channels to identify, seize, and remove banned products from circulation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The nationwide operation, NAFDAC said, forms part of the ongoing efforts at protecting public health and reduce the harmful effects of alcohol abuse.<\/p>\n<p>NAFDAC, therefore, directed manufacturers, importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, transporters and other stakeholders to immediately surrender any remaining stock of the prohibited products.<\/p>\n<p>The market regulator equally cautioned that continued possession, or sale of the banned alcoholic beverages constitutes a violation of the law.<\/p>\n<p>This could attract seizure, regulatory sanctions and prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>It warned that anyone found storing, distributing or selling the banned alcoholic beverages would be liable to regulatory action, including seizure of the products and possible prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>NAFDAC also said: \u201cManufacturers, importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, transporters, and other stakeholders are advised to immediately surrender any remaining stock, as continued possession or sale of the banned products constitutes a violation of the law and may attract seizure, regulatory sanctions, and prosecution.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The agency further noted that the enforcement drive is intended to reduce underage drinking, discourage harmful alcohol consumption and tackle substance abuse, particularly among children and young people.<\/p>\n<p>It, therefore, urged members of the public to support the exercise by refraining from purchasing the banned products and reporting anyone involved in their production, distribution or sale.<\/p>\n<p>NAFDAC advised Nigerians to report suspected offenders at the nearest NAFDAC office, or its
