Zayyanu Tambari, Chief Compliance Officer of the Initiative, who stated this Thursday, July 2, 2026, blamed the gap on weak competition among CNG-powered operators.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"9fEp9jDp1s\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=1546\">Special Report: TETFund&#8217;s N2bn initial funding commitment to new N10bn OAU Centre of Excellence<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201cSpecial Report: TETFund\u2019s N2bn initial funding commitment to new N10bn OAU Centre of Excellence\u201d \u2014 Consumer Experience Is A Top Priority\" src=\"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=1546&amp;embed=true#?secret=UC4K3zAXu7#?secret=9fEp9jDp1s\" data-secret=\"9fEp9jDp1s\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Tambari also dismissed fears that CNG cylinders installed in vehicle trunks pose an explosion risk, speaking on the sidelines of the 2026 Nigeria Gas Safety Conference in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>He said the pricing gap would narrow as more drivers adopt CNG, arguing that greater competition among operators would eventually drive fares down.<\/p>\n<p>The Chief Compliance Officer also stated: &#8220;This is a teething problem, and basically the desire of the drivers to maximise profit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tambari described the conference as a platform to deepen collaboration between government and private stakeholders in strengthening Nigeria&#8217;s gas sector.<\/p>\n<p>On safety, he said properly certified CNG cylinders are built to withstand pressures far beyond operating levels.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If a cylinder is licensed by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, then it is well made.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The gas is designed for 220 bar of pressure, and the cylinders are designed to take more pressure, up to 300 bar,&#8221; Engr. Tambari stated.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that fluctuations in temperature do not pose an explosion risk inside a vehicle&#8217;s trunk.<\/p>\n<p>Tambari also offered guidance on spotting counterfeit cylinders, noting that substandard products are often identifiable by their construction.<\/p>\n<p>The energy expert added: &#8220;When you see those cylinders, they are usually so thick and have welded parts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Once you see those signs, it is a flag that something is wrong with the cylinder.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>*Engr.
