{"id":1304,"date":"2026-06-29T11:41:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T11:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=1304"},"modified":"2026-06-29T12:42:56","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T12:42:56","slug":"ncc-showcases-excellence-ranks-among-3-top-federal-agencies-in-public-service-reforms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=1304","title":{"rendered":"BPSR 2026: NCC showcases excellence, ranks among 3 top Federal MDAs in reforms, improved QoS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>*<strong><em>The Bureau of Public Service Reforms&#8217; annual assessment recognises Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies that have demonstrated excellence in implementing public service reforms, promoting transparency, accountability, and improved service delivery<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Gbenga Kayode | ConsumerConnect<\/p>\n<p>Following a recent comprehensive evaluation of Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) regarding key reform indicators, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) again, has been ranked among the Federal Government\u2019s three top-performing agencies in the 2026 Public Service Reforms Performance Assessment at a ceremony, in Abuja, FCT.<\/p>\n<p><em>ConsumerConnect<\/em> reports the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) conducted the assessment exercise on the MDAs.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"UR5mUyJaYK\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=1318\">Energy Hikes: FCCPC decries consumer exploitation, threatens sanctions against Nigerian oil racketeers<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden;\" title=\"\u201cEnergy Hikes: FCCPC decries consumer exploitation, threatens sanctions against Nigerian oil racketeers\u201d \u2014 Consumer Experience Is A Top Priority\" src=\"https:\/\/consumerconnectng.com\/?p=1318&amp;embed=true#?secret=4AYzmY8Y0I#?secret=UR5mUyJaYK\" data-secret=\"UR5mUyJaYK\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The NCC, in this year&#8217;s assessment, secured third position, trailing the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) and Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC).<\/p>\n<p>The BPSR noted that the annual comprehensive evaluation of Ministries, Departments and Agencies was based on key reform indicators, including the Self-Assessment Tool (SAT), Freedom of Information (FoI) compliance, Fiscal Transparency, Integrity Index, and official Web site performance.<\/p>\n<p>The annual assessment also recognises and ranks government MDAs that have demonstrated excellence in implementing public service reforms, promoting transparency, accountability, and improved service delivery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maida: Recognition is affirmation of NCC&#8217;s commitment to reforms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Receiving the award on behalf of the Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (EVC\/CEO) of NCC, described the recognition as an affirmation of the Commission\u2019s commitment to institutional reforms.<\/p>\n<p>Represented at the award ceremony by Engr. Abraham Oshadami, Executive Commissioner, Technical Services (ECTS) at NCC, Dr. Maida said: \u201cOn behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of the Nigerian Communications Commission, we thank the Bureau for these recognitions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For us at the NCC, this award acknowledges our ongoing reform efforts and underscores the need to sustain them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Executive Vice-Chairman and CEO also stressed that the recognition would further inspire the Commission to deepen reforms aimed at improving service delivery, and strengthening public confidence in Nigeria\u2019s telecoms sector.<\/p>\n<p>Maida stated: \u201cThis recognition serves as a motivation to strengthen our commitment to service delivery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt also confirms that our reforms to improve transparency and accountability are gaining public acceptance and recognition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha, Director of Public Affairs at NCC, in a statement Sunday, June 28, 2026, also stressed the Executive Vice-Chairman said: \u201cFirst; on behalf of all awardees, and second, on behalf of the Board, Management, and staff of the Nigerian Communications Commission, we thank the Bureau for these recognitions. For us at NCC, this recognition acknowledges our ongoing reform efforts and underscores the need to sustain them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>Maisa noted that the BPSR recognition served as a motivation for MDAs to strengthen their commitment to service delivery, noting that, for the NCC, the award also served as an affirmation that its reforms aimed at improving transparency and accountability in the sector were yielding greater public acceptance and positive recognition.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>He further averred: \u201cFor our telecommunications consumers, this recognition reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen service quality, transparency, and responsiveness across the sector. The assessment outcome also reinforces the importance of maintaining standards that support improved customer experience and greater confidence in telecom services nationwide.&#8221;<\/div>\n<p><strong>On benefits of reforms award to telecoms consumers <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In respect of the ultimate benefits of the recognition and award to telecoms consumers, the EVC\/CEO of the telecoms sector regulator said the award reflected the Commission\u2019s efforts at enhancing Qualify of Service (QoS), transparency and responsiveness across the telecommunications industry in the country.<\/p>\n<p>He further said: \u201cFor telecommunications consumers, this recognition reflects our continued commitment to improving service quality, transparency and responsiveness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt reinforces the importance of maintaining standards that support better customer experience and greater confidence in telecom services nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission, therefore, restated its commitment to deploying effective regulatory measures and innovative approaches to strengthen consumer protection and improve QoS across the all-important sector of the Nigerian economy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Insight into recent NCC&#8217;s reforms in telecoms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is noted that over the past two years, the NCC has introduced a number of regulatory reforms to enhance transparency and accountability in the telecoms industry.<\/p>\n<p>Such far-reaching reforms include launch of the National Coverage Map that provides near real-time information on network availability and performance nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission introduced the publication of Quarterly Network Performance Reports detailing operators\u2019 service delivery in the telecoms environment.<\/p>\n<p>Besides, the industry regulator directed the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to simplify tariff communication for consumers, and enforced compliance with updated Corporate Governance Guidelines to strengthen accountability and operational efficiency in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>The NCC also has expanded the proactive publication of industry data to keep stakeholders and the public better informed about developments in the telecommunications sector.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, in his address at the award ceremony, Mr. Dasuki Arabi, Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, had commended participating MDAs, especially the top-performing agencies, for their commitment to transparency, accountability and open governance.<\/p>\n<p>Arabi said the annual assessment, which is held as part of activities marking the United Nations (UN) Public Service Day, provides a veritable platform to recognise institutions that have excelled in implementing reforms and delivering quality public services.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to institutional awards, the Bureau as well recognised 20 outstanding public servants across the Federal, state and local government levels for excellence and leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from MDAs, other award recipients include Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF), and Mrs. Adejoke Adefulire, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>*The Bureau of Public Service Reforms&#8217; annual assessment recognises Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies that have demonstrated excellence in implementing public service reforms, promoting&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":1302,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"_FSMCFIC_featured_image_caption":"Engr.
