Nearly three-quarters of Americans say grocery prices have been one of the most difficult increases to absorb, while many are also feeling the strain of higher transportation and gas costs, report noted.<\/p>\n<p>Report also noted that as inflation remains stubbornly high, consumers are adjusting the way they shop, save and plan for the future.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the grim inflationary trend in the US economy as of now, Vipin Porwal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Smarty, explained that rising costs of products and services are no longer viewed as a temporary challenge but as a reality that American households are learning to navigate in recent times.<\/p>\n<p>Porwal, however, shared insights on how consumers could prepare their budgets, stretch their Dollars further, and build financial resilience in an uncertain economic environment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From shock to lifestyle constraint amid inflation <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>ConsumerConnect<\/em> reports the United States Congress Joint Economic Committee, earlier June this year, reported that the US annual inflation rate stood at 4.25 percent for the 12 months ending May 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee also noted that month-over-month, the Consumer Price Index (CPI-U) rose by 0.47 percent, heavily driven by a 23.54 percent annual spike in energy prices in the American country&#8217;s economy.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, Porwal, CEO of Smarty, explained that several consumers are past the phase of feeling shocked about inflation and consistently rising prices, report said.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, instead, US consumers have started adapting their lifestyles to this new \u201cnormal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The CEO of Smarty also stated: \u201cThe initial shock has worn off because this is our new reality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsumers have realised inflation isn&#8217;t a passing storm, so they&#8217;re simply adapting.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He further noted: \u201cIn my own house, for example, we finally stopped waiting for our favourite local takeout spot to lower their delivery fees.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Instead, we bought a decent pizza oven for the backyard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We realised those inflated Friday night food costs aren&#8217;t reverting, so we changed our lifestyle to work around it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Restructuring how you buy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Smarty\u2019s research as well discovered that over 50 percent of Americans are uncertain about their financial futures.<\/p>\n<p>Porwal also said: &#8220;However, rising prices haven\u2019t stopped consumers from spending.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Instead, they\u2019re just adjusting how they shop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGroceries and gas were identified as the most painful price increases.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Smarty Chief Executive noted: \u201cYou can&#8217;t just stop buying food or driving, so people are restructuring how they buy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re seeing consumers ditch brand loyalty completely.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He equally noted: &#8220;Personally, I used to be a die-hard loyalist to one specific grocery store.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Not anymore. Now, my weekend routine is hitting up Costco for bulk proteins and a local discount grocer for pantry staples.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And I refuse to fill up my gas tank anywhere other than the station tied to my grocery rewards.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a bit more running around, but the savings are undeniable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rethink your budgeting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With price increases hitting consumers just about everywhere, Porwal\u2019s best advice is to let go of the \u201cset it and forget it\u201d mindset when it comes to your expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Besides, he recommended shoppers to start treating cashback and coupons as actual income rather than a nice bonus.<\/p>\n<p>Porwal explained: \u201cI sat down a few weeks ago and audited my own credit card statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was paying for three different streaming services I hadn&#8217;t watched in months and a premium app I forgot to cancel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The CEO of Smarty added: &#8220;Slashing those instantly put about $50 back in my pocket every month, which perfectly covers the exact amount my weekly grocery bill has crept
