Education: Nigerian Government reappoints CEOs of JAMB, NUC, UBEC, others

*President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reappointment of Heads of the Federal Government agencies in the education sector of the Nigerian economy

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reappointment of Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB); and Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), among other heads of the Federal Government agencies in the education sector of the economy.

Ben Bem Goong, Spokesman of Federal Ministry of Education, stated that the reappointments were based on the recommendation of Malam Adamu Adamu, Honourable Minister for Education.

The two appointments are for tenure of five years each with effect from August 1, 2021.

Likewise, the government also reappointed Dr. Hamid Bobboyi as the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) for a second and final tenure of four years with effect from August 1.

Earlier, President Buhari had approved the reappointment of Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe as Registrar/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) for a second term of four years to sustain the efforts at sensitising Nigerians on the critical role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and business subjects in the new knowledge economy.

In order to further give impetus to Mathematics education, the government has also approved the appointment of Prof. Promise Mebine as the Director/Chief Executive of the National Mathematical Centre for an initial tenure of five years with effect from August 17, 2021, report said.
