Ondo expends N3.13bn on workers’ allowances, hazard bonuses, says Commissioner

The Ondo State Government has said that it spent over N3.13billion to offset the outstanding allowances of workers and medical staff in the state.

Mr. Donald Ojogo, Honurable Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Ondo State, revealed this Monday, August 3, in Akure, the state capital, says agency report.

Ojogo said: “The agreement for the payment was the outcome of last month’s (July) meeting between Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and union leaders in the state.”

The Commissioner related that Akeredolu recently approved that the outstanding allowances be paid, following the conclusion of the series of meetings Mr. Dare Aragbaiye, Head of Service (HoS) brokered.

He stated: “Part of the resolution was that the July allocation from the Federation Account should be used to offset these allowances.

“Some of the already cleared outstanding allowances include deductions, leave bonuses as well as pensions.”

He as well disclosed that 30 percent of consolidated basic salary as hazard allowance for medical workers was also paid.
