The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) invites industry stakeholders to participate in a public consultation on the potential, risks and public-interest considerations related to any regulatory framework on Satellite Direct-to-Device connectivity in the West African country.

ConsumerConnect reports the NCC stated this in a recent public notice posted via ncc.gov.ng@NgComCommission titled, “Public Inquiry on the Spectrum Roadmap 2025–2030, Guidelines for the Use of the 60 GHz For Multi Gigabit Wireless Systems and the Guidelines for the Use of the Lower Part of the 6 GHz Band for Wifi-6 in Nigeria”.

The telecoms regulator noted that the invitation for stakeholders’ contributions, and feedback received would inform the Commission’s assessment, and guide its decision-making on any regulatory framework on Satellite Direct-to-Device connectivity in Nigeria.

The telecoms sector regulatory Commission also urged prospective participants to access the Consultation Paper via the link below: https://ncc.gov.ng/sites/default/files/2026-01/Consultation-Paper-on-Satellite-Direct-to-Device.pdf.

According to NCC, this Consultation Paper represents “a preliminary stakeholder engagement in line with the Commission’s participatory and transparency-driven regulatory approach, prior to the activation of any formal rule-making process under S.71 of the Nigerian Communications Act” (NCA) 2003.
