Telecoms regulator holds stakeholder engagement on competition level in Lagos

As part of its consumer-centric approach to industry regulation, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is hosting a Stakeholder Consultative Forum (SCF) on the level of competition in the voice and data segments of the telecoms industry January 13, 2026, at 10.00a.m., in Lagos.

In regard to the strategic importance of the forthcoming stakeholder engagement, the telecoms sector regulatory Commission affirmed competition in the industry is important.

ConsumerConnect reports the NCC said healthy competition usually “pushes operators to improve service quality, expand coverage, and invest in new technologies.”

The NCC, in a recent notice, explained that with lower prices, a wider range of choices, and better customer service but the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), telecoms consumers benefit when there is healthy competition in the industry.

The telecoms  industry regulator further stated that the forum would engage key stakeholders, and obtain their inputs on the Commission’s competition assessment of the all-important telecoms sector of the Nigerian economy

It, therefore, urged stakeholders, and other prospective participants to send in their contributions and correspondence to competitionstudy2025@ncc.gov.ng.
