For an error observed in the vehicle model’s airbag system, Ford Motor Company is recalling about 24,000 model year 2016-20 Lincoln MKX and Nautilus vehicles with 16-way power seats sold in the United States (US), Mexico and Canada.

According to the automobile manufacturing company, there may be insufficient clearance between the driver and/or front passenger seat wiring harness and the seat cushion pan, which could cause wiring harness abrasion.

It was learnt that if certain wires in the seat wiring harness are damaged through contact with the seat cushion frame, the airbag system may not perform as intended in some circumstances, increasing the risk of injuries.

Although there are yet no reports of accident or injuries, agency report stated.

As regards what to do, Ford will notify owners, and dealers will install flocking tape on the exposed edge of the 16-way seat cushion frames, inspect the wire harness, and repair or replace as needed free of charge.

Affected vehicle owners may contact Ford Customer Service on (866) 436-7332, while Ford’s reference number for this recall is 20S37, said the report.
