For purportedly misappropriating N2.5billion Federal Government’s seed money for the actualisation of Nigeria’s much-publicised but distressed Digital Switchover (DSO) project, Ishaq Modibbo Kawu, Director-General, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Abuja, FCT, has been suspended.

ConsumerConnect sources have confirmed that the suspension was at the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The NBC Director-General’s suspension resulted from the alleged N2.5billion fraud in connection with a corruption case involving him and Pinnacle Communications Limited, the signal carrier of the Abuja digitisation exercise, by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The ICPC had asked the Federal Government to suspend Modibbo Kawu from office pending the conclusion of the case.
