GM recalls 10,154 Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana vehicles over faulty battery cable terminals

GM 2021 Chevrolet Express Vehicle

* The positive battery cable terminal may cause a short circuit

Emmanuel Akosile | ConsumerConnect

General Motors is recalling 10,154 model year 2021 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vehicles with 6.6L gasoline engines.

The automobile manufacturer stated that the positive battery cable terminals may contact a fuse block assembly attachment post and cause an electrical short circuit.

A short-circuit can increase the risk of a fire, it noted.

In regard to what to do in rectifying the error, GM will notify affected owners, and dealers will remove a portion of the anti-rotation tab on both positive battery cable terminals near the fuse block assembly attachments free of charge.

If too much of the tab had been removed during prior servicing, the battery cable will be replaced free of charge.

Owners should park their vehicles outside and away from structures until the repair is complete, report stated.

The current recall is expected to begin May 3, 2021.

Meanwhile, owners may contact Chevrolet Customer Service on (800) 222-1020, and GMC Customer Service on (800) 462-8782.

GM’s number for this recall is N202325160.
